Mercy Foundation North recently announced the 2010 recipient of its Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor given by the Foundation, as well as the 2010 recipients of the Mercy Foundation North McAuley Society Awards, with twenty-two (22) donors receiving the prestigious honor recently at the Foundation’s 11th annual Donor Recognition Event.
Mercy Foundation North Board of Trustees Chair, Dr. John Clark, received the Distinguished Service Award. The Distinguished Service Award is presented as a tribute to an individual who imparts outstanding service, commitment and support to Mercy Foundation North. A fellow Board member stated, “…Dr. John Clark really stands out as having made unusual efforts to ensure that things needing attention or action are completed with competency, care and effectiveness.” Dr. John Clark, Mercy Foundation North Board of Trustees member for 12 years, has been generous with his time, talent and treasure to further Mercy’s mission. He recently retired as the Medical Director for the Mercy Redding Hospice Program, a role he filled for over 15 years. He was instrumental in starting the Hospice Program at Mercy Redding. Dr. Clark spent 26+ years serving as the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at Mercy, was Chief of Staff, served on the Institutional Review Board, and was honored as Mercy’s Physician of the Year. He and his wife, Anne, have lived in Redding for over 35 years. The Foundation is governed by a 30-member Board of Trustees, comprised of community leaders from Shasta, Tehama and Siskiyou counties.
Mercy Foundation North is a not-for-profit organization sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and is dedicated to supporting their activities throughout the north state. Mercy Foundation North serves as the philanthropic arm for Mercy Medical Center Redding, Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta, St. Elizabeth Community Hospital, Golden Umbrella, and Shasta Senior Nutrition Programs. The Foundation is guided by the Sisters’ mission to care for those in need of physical, spiritual, social, and emotional healing. The Foundation has the responsibility of developing, managing, and distributing resources that will support the continuation of the works of the Sisters of Mercy in the areas of health care, education, and social services.
Mercy Foundation North also recognized its most generous supporters at the recent Donor Recognition Event by inducting them into the McAuley Society. Membership in the McAuley Society is awarded to donors whose cumulative giving to Mercy Foundation North reaches $10,000 or more. The award is named for Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy. New and current Legacy Club Members were also recognized.
