The Need is Growing - Please Help Us...

Emergency Department Re-model and Expansion
The Emergency Department Expansion Project at Mercy Medical Center in Redding is an undertaking that addresses the needs of an Emergency Department (ED) where current volume has increased to the point where the demand is often higher than the 22 beds currently available. In 2010, 50% of the hospital’s admissions and approximately 55,000 patient visits came through the Emergency Department; the facility was designed to accommodate 44,000 patients. By 2015, projected annual visits will exceed 57,000. The project will include a 4,165 sq. ft. expansion, remodeling of 11,853 of space on the first floor of the main hospital building, and a new ambulance triage area, which will be added at the entry to the unit. The two trauma bays will be upgraded and expanded . The new space will allow for an increase in the number of patient care bays from 22 to 30; these bays will be private rooms (the majority of the rooms are currently separated only by a curtain), which will meet patient privacy requirements. The expansion includes two treatment rooms designed to better accommodate psychiatric patients. Additionally, approximately 500 sq. ft. of the expansion is dedicated to remodeling the existing lab to provide improved support for ED patients. The project also includes expansion of the existing radiology room and a remodel of the critical care areas. Your donations are urgently needed.

Hospice
Hospice is a set of services that we may all need one day – if not for ourselves, for someone we love. Mercy Redding Hospice is not a place but a concept of care designed to provide comfort and support to patients and their families when a life-limiting illness no longer responds to cure-oriented treatments. Our Hospice program is not about dying, it is about living with respect and dignity, and without pain. It is about living life to its fullest, including the final moment. No patient is ever turned away from Hospice due to inability to pay. Your donation means so much in allowing us to continue this valuable ministry to the community.

Where the Need is Greatest
Each day, Mercy Medical Center Redding touches the lives of people of all ages. Extending compassionate care to everyone in need regardless of their ability to pay is the driving objective of Mercy Medical Center Redding. Just within the last fiscal year the hospital provided $15.4 million dollars in “charity care” that was not reimbursed from other sources. We could not provide compassionate care to all of our citizens without the generous support our faithful donors. You can make a real difference – you not only impact lives today, but your support can have a lasting impact into the future.
