CHW's "Giving Hearts" - Redding

Mercy Redding's Ruth Balbini...making a difference

Ruth Balbini in the Healing Garden with granddaughter Carly Rose, who was born at Mercy Medical Center Redding on Easter morning in 2008.

Ruth Balbini has been a faithful supporter of the works of the Sisters of Mercy for many years. In her words below, Ruth explains why she donates to Mercy Foundation North:

“As an employee of Mercy I have been the blessed recipient of many rewards during the time I have been here. Not only do I have a job that allows me to interact with the exceptional staff here at Mercy but I have also had the chance to receive care for myself and for my family members that was exceptional to say the least. The Maternity Department Renovation is an opportunity for me to give something back, not just to Mercy Medical Center, but to a community that I have grown to care for since coming here in 2002. I also believe in providing our clients here at Mercy with the opportunity to have a place to retreat to, such as the Healing Garden, when they need to escape the austere surroundings of a hospital room. I am glad to be a small part of bringing both the Maternity Department Renovation and the Healing Garden to completion because I have received so much from Mercy Medical Center and the many people who make up this wonderful place.”

While the Emergency Department renovation is on hold until the next fiscal year, the Foundation continues to raise support for the Maternity Department remodel, the Healing Garden and of course, all departments at Mercy Redding. Most employees make gifts via a multi-year pledge using payroll deduction.
