Mother and Newborn Campaign
 |
Mercy Medical Center Redding's renovation and expansion of the Maternal Child Services Department to better meet the ever increasing needs of North State residents is nearing completion. The Mother and Newborn project is slated to be completed by August of 2010. Work continues on Phase II of the project, while a new nurse call system will be installed on the third floor in the Maternity Services Department. A new GE fetal monitor is being installed. Since the last report, hospital staff and senior management have recognized a need to have a separate nourishment room, which was previously included in the clean utility room. The project architect is drafting plans to ensure this room meets the needs of patients and the hospital. Additionally, photos of babies to frame as artwork in the new wing will be explored. Plans are being made for a community reception and Open House to be held between construction completion and licensing in early fall. Once the new wing has been approved for licensing and is fully operational, the media will be invited to the view the new area. Part of the funds for the renovation were raised by Mercy Foundation North. $2 million dollars was raised for this important expansion.
Thank you to our many donors who joined us in our commitment to bring this vision to life!
