Mercy Hospice

Hospice care focuses on the patient and highlights the quality of life rather than the length of life. It affirms life and does not hasten or postpone death. Hospice nurses help their patients to continue an alert, pain-free life and manage other symptoms so their last days may be spent with dignity and quality, surrounded by their loved ones. Hospice is here to alleviate the stress, burden, and fear many experience during this time by providing love, compassion, and unrivaled care. Your support allows them to serve our communities and families.

Services provided in the North State include, but are not limited to:

  • Medical care with a focus on pain and symptom control provided by a skilled nurse 24 hours a day through both in-person visits and a 24-hour answering service.

  • Home Health Aides to provide direct personal care to patients.

  • Medical social worker to help guide families with the difficult, but normal, issues of life completion and closure.

  • Bereavement support for family and friends to help them grieve.

  • Spiritual care plan that is aligned with the patient’s and loved ones’ spiritual needs, which may include prayer, therapeutic presence, therapeutic listening, and conversational engagement.

  • Respite care which provides a break for caregivers, family,  and others who take care of the loved one. It is a 5-day inpatient stay every 6 months.

  • Medication, medical equipment, and supplies covered by Hospice.

  • Volunteers who are matched with the needs of  patients and families to provide support for  limited caregiver relief.

Mercy accepts all appropriate terminal cases, regardless of ability to pay.  Without the support of the three North State hospitals, Mercy Hospice would be unable to provide inpatient or placement services to many dying patients.  To access Hospice services, please consult with your doctor or call the main Hospice office at 530.245.4070 for any questions you may have.
