THIS YEAR'S "Swing into Spring" GOLF TOURNAMENT HELD MAY 15th AT THE MOUNT SHASTA RESORT

This year's annual Mercy Mount Shasta Auxiliary "Swing into Spring" golf tournament took place on May 15th at the Mount Shasta Resort. As the major annual funding event for Mercy’s transportation system, its success assures continued service to residents of Siskiyou County who have no means of transportation for appointments at the hospital or with affiliated doctors and clinics.

The Swing into Spring golf tournament was initiated in 1995 to help purchase the first van and cover operating costs. The tournament, now an annual event, provides golfing fun and the opportunity for the community to support the transportation system. All proceeds go directly to the transportation fund and support operating costs and the purchase of new equipment.

The Auxiliary is challenged this year to replace its aging wheelchair van. Mercy Mount Shasta Auxiliary’s transportation system is about people helping people. Between July 1, 2007 and June 30, 2008 the vans transported 1,462 patients, traveled 43,241 miles and used 2,843 gallons of gasoline. This was accomplished by a group of dedicated volunteer drivers and schedulers and the support of donors and participants in past golf tournament events.

If you are interested in playing in the golf tournament, call Joyce Zwanziger at 926-7179. For additional information about the golf tournament or the Auxiliary, call Joyce at the above number.
