Healing Garden "Rooms"

The Garden "Rooms" offer a sense of peace and well-being...

"We should be as the compass that goes round its circle without stirring from its center.
Now our center is God from whom all our actions should spring as from their source..."
                                                                                      ~ Catherine McAuley

A large "mandala-like" circle of contrasting stones will greet visitors as they step out to the garden through the inner access.

Fragrance - Surrounded by fragrant plant materials, the seating will have a perfect view of the waterfall. Seating will consist of two chairs and a small table.

Pond - This room features a pool of water created from the creek running out of the waterfalls. As it is mostly shaded, the typical pond plants won't thrive, so the emphasis will be placed on unusual rocks and wood. Bog and shade plants will surround the pond, giving it an overgrown feel. The bench seating will provide a nice view of both the pond and the waterfall. There will be a bridge over the creek between the waterfall and the pond. Seating will consist of a wood chair-back bench.
Waterfall - Using the retaining wall to develop elevation, a several-tiered waterfall will cascade from the top of the mound toward the entry path to greet visitors as they enter the garden. Not only beautiful, the tumbling water will provide the peaceful sounds associated with moving water. Created from natural rocks with plants growing around them, it will be the focal point of the garden.

Irish - Yew and Podocarpus will add a formal touch and seating will be under an arbor covered with climbing roses and surrounded by seasonal plants, this room wil lhave the feel of a more traditional Irish/English garden. A statue of St. Francis and a bench will be incorporated into this room.
Mediterranean - Herbs and edible plants combine with blue and orange complimentary colors will provide a warmer Mediterranean feel to give visitors a sense of being by the Mediterranean sea.
Zen - Raked sand with perfectly placed rocks highlight this room. Visitors may rake the sand for enjoyment or meditation. The tension between order and untamed nature honor the Japanese garden tradition. Simplicity and structure with tightly clipped azaleas and various species of Japanese Maple and Bamboo will be emphasized. A traditional Japanese water bowl will complete the Zen-like feeling.

Fern - A coastal rainforest feeling will be recreated by using a mixed variety of lush ferns.
Angel - A mix of temperate climate shrubs and perennials will feature lots of spring color with another flush of color in late summer for an American garden feel. A statue of an angel tucked into this room wil focus visitors on the spiritual forces at work. A curved cement garden bench will compliment the angel statue.
