Mercy Foundation North announced today that the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians and California Emergency Physicians (CEP) have donated funds to purchase a new ultrasound machine for at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital. The $52,000 piece of equipment is used for diagnostic purposes in the Emergency Department. CEP, A physician-owned partnership of emergency medicine doctors, is one of the largest providers of emergency department management and staffing solutions in the nation. The Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians operates Rolling Hills Casino and Sevillano Links in Corning. Recognizing that the ED ultrasound was in need of replacement, and knowing there was no money available in the hospital’s capital budget, CEP physicians decided to partner with the Tribe to make the acquisition. “The new ultrasound will improve image quality and enable us to diagnose and treat ED patients in a more timely manner” said Dr. Chris Louisell, ED physician at St. Elizabeth.
