Jeanne Michelson began her life in Redding in 1977 when she and her family relocated to Shasta County from Southern California. She worked in the commercial banking field for over 30 years. Jeanne was the first employee to be hired at Redding Bank of Commerce, where she worked more than 15 years and was the executive secretary to Harry Grashoff, the bank President, and long time Mercy Foundation North Board of Trustees member. Jeanne married Gene Michelson, a partner at Nystrom and Company, in 1994, and during retirement, they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States in their motor home. Jeanne currently has 13 grandchildren ranging in ages from 5 to 25, and they keep her very busy during her “downtime” when she isn’t volunteering, traveling, quilting, or gardening. She enjoys taking trips in her motor home with travel groups from her church and the local Elk’s Lodge, and is also the Treasurer of a local women’s sorority service group, Alpha Delta Nu. Jeanne states that volunteering at Mercy Foundation, which she does almost daily, gives her a place to “focus her energy and remain active”. She enjoys people, and feels she has found her niche in the office environment. Jeanne helps with computer entry, banking, clerical tasks, and a variety of projects. Since losing her husband last year, Jeanne explains, “she has found her family” at the Foundation. We are thrilled that Jeanne is part of our Mercy Foundation family.
