Gary Blevins...supporting our mission!
Mercy Foundation North is honored to recognize Gary Blevins, who has made financial gifts to the Foundation in support of our mission of extending compassionate care to everyone in need. In his own words, Gary explains why he donates to Mercy Foundation North:
“I’ve felt the need to support our mission since my arrival here in 1989. Over the years I’ve held to the notion that, as my personal financial rewards have increased as a result of my association with MMCMS/CHW, it is only fitting to increase my financial support for our mission. For me it is simply the no-brainer right thing to do. It is clear that the continued success of MMCMS in the provision of high-quality health care services and our dual status as the primary employer and employer of choice in the area are in the best interests of the communities we serve. Given the challenging economic times we are faced with, I am particularly pleased that I’m able to strike a balance between support for specific capital expenditures and support for operations. Having all the latest technology is a bit moot if we can’t keep our doors open to use it. I was very pleased to be able make donations via payroll deduction. I confess I’m not sure my total donations over the past several years would have amounted to nearly as much if I’d had to write small checks every two weeks or write larger checks periodically. My donations via payroll deduction only come to mind once a year when I pull together information for the person who prepares my tax returns. For me, making tax-deductible charitable donations I know for certain will be used for the good of the community is much better than paying maximum taxes I know will be used to support things I either doubt are worthwhile or outright oppose.”
Gary, recently retired, served as the Director of Human Resources at Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta. For him, the best thing about working for an organization like Mercy are the Core Values: Dignity, Collaboration, Justice, Stewardship and Excellence. Mercy’s Core Values are integrated into every aspect of operations; providing comfort and support, truly serving the needs of Siskiyou County residents.
