Mt. Shasta Emergency Department Renovation and Expansion

An ambitions makeover of Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta’s Emergency Department has passed the halfway mark, and all parties involved are excited about the progress and how it is going to improve health care in the far north state.

Crews this summer (2020), put the finishing touches on a 3,000-square-foot expansion of the ED, giving the busy department a private admitting area, new private exam rooms, a centralized nurses’ station, a separate waiting area, and separate bathrooms for patients and the public.

Next up will be the renovation of the existing Emergency Department which will create an isolation room, more private patient bays, and state-of-the-art imaging equipment.  The final phase of the $8 million project will be completed in the summer of 2021.  Over $1 million of the $1.5 million needed to complete this project has been raised.  The project has always been important to the community of south Siskiyou County, and COVID-19 has made the need even more urgent and clear.
