Mt. Shasta Emergency Department Expansion and Renovation

The Emergency Department Expansion and Renovation at Mercy Mt. Shasta was recently completed.  During the past 12 months, Mercy Mt. Shasta’s Emergency Department has had nearly 12,000 patient visits which is an average of 33 patients per day.  Overall, over $1.6 million was raised for the $8.6 million project.  Without the generosity of the community, certain aspects of the project would not have been realized.

The new space is not only aesthetically pleasing, it is over double the size of the original emergency department.  New additions include a dedicated waiting room, vending area, private admitting space, triage room, double state of the art trauma bay, central nursing station, negative pressure isolation room with dedicated ante room, and additional private and double patient rooms.

Another major improvement is the new patient-only entrance and separate ambulance canopy.  This feature enhances safety and security for patients as well as emergency medical services personnel and emergency department staff.  The new triage area can also be used to address minor procedures such as blood draws, stitches, and other less extreme cases.

The community now has access to the latest in emergency medicine innovations from technology and equipment to patient flow and process improvement.  Mercy Foundation North is grateful for the community's support!
